Indications and Prescribability
XLeu Maxamaid is for use in the dietary management of Isovaleric Acidaemia in children from approximately 1 to 8 years of age.
Suggested Intake
XLeu Maxamaid intake will vary depending on the age, bodyweight and medical condition of the child. Intake is adjusted to maintain normal growth and development. 100g of XLeu Maxamaid provides 25g of protein equivalent. For accuracy, XLeu Maxamaid should be weighed on a gram scale.
Preparation & Administration
USE ONLY UNDER THE DIRECTION OF A PHYSICIAN OR DIETITIAN.
XLeu Maxamaid must be consumed in conjunction with natural protein, fluid and other nutrients in quantities prescribed by a physician or dietitian to meet leucine and general nutrition requirements.
XLeu Maxamaid is best served as a chilled drink with meals. Make a paste of the prescribed amount of powder with a small volume of water. Gradually add sufficient water to yield the prescribed volume. It is recommended that XLeu Maxamaid be reconstituted at a 1 to 7 dilution (e.g. 100g of XLeu Maxamaid and 700ml of water) and advanced to a 1 to 5 dilution (e.g. 100g of XLeu Maxamaid and 500ml of water). These dilutions are guidelines only. XLeu Maxamaid may be given in a more concentrated form i.e. drink or paste; water or diluted drinks should be offered at the same time.
Reconstituted drink mix should be stored in the refrigerator and used within 24 hours.

Precautions
Must only be used under strict medical supervision. Not intended for use as the sole source of nutrition. Not recommended for infants under 1 year of age. Not for parenteral use. Not suitable for metabolic disorders other than Isovaleric Acidaemia or as a supplement for individuals who do not have Isovaleric Acidaemia.
This product must be supplemented with natural protein and other nutrients in medically prescribed quantities to supply the leucine and general nutrition requirements of the patient.

Precautions
Store unopened can at room temperature. Do not store at extreme temperatures. Once opened, reseal can and store in a cool, dry place (not in refrigerator) and use within one month.
