Description
A low protein, low phenylalanine drink based on milk extracts.
Indications and Prescribability
Sno-Pro is a pleasant tasting, low protein, low phenylalanine drink, based on milk extracts with an energy value comparable to normal milk. It is designed to be used as a milk replacer in conditions where it is necessary to restrict protein intake, for example in renal disease. It is particularly useful for inborn errors of metabolism, such as phenylketonuria. Sno-Pro can be incorporated into the diet to increase variety and thus enhance patient acceptability. One 200ml carton contains 25mg of phenylalanine.
Suggested Intake
This product contains some phenylalanine. Check with your dietitian how much of this drink you can have. In the UK, this contains approx. half an exchange per carton
Preparation & Administration
The dosage should be determined by the clinician or dietitian only and is dependent on the age, bodyweight and medical condition of the patient.
Precautions
Must only be used under strict medical supervision. Not intended for use as the sole source of nutrition. Not for parenteral use. Not suitable for milk-free or lactose-free diets.
Precautions
Store in a cool, dry place. Shake well before use. Once opened, store in a refrigerator and consume within 24 hours.
