Description

An orange flavoured phenylalanine (Phe) free powder containing the remaining essential amino acids (large neutral amino acids and lysine), carbohydrate, fat, vitamins, minerals and trace elements. With sugar and sweetener.

Indications and Prescribability

For the dietary management of adults (over 18 years of age) with proven phenylketonuria (PKU) who are no longer following a phenylalanine restricted diet.

Suggested Intake

The quantity of Lanaflex (Orange) is dependent on the age, bodyweight and medical condition of the individual and is to be determined by a clinician or dietitian only. The recommended quantity of Lanaflex is 0.79g per kg bodyweight per day. This quantity should be distributed over the day in 3 or more portions taken along with meals.  Quantity should not exceed 3 sachets per day in total.

Preparation & Administration

It is recommended that Lanaflex is prepared at an approximate 1 to 4 dilution. In a screw top container add 60mls (2fl. oz) of chilled water. Add the contents of one sachet (15.8g) and shake well until dissolved. This will yield a final volume of 70mls (2.3fl. oz).  The product is best served as a chilled drink and consumed immediately.  If taken in a more concentrated form, water or diluted drinks should be taken immediately after Lanaflex.

It is recommended that an individual on Lanaflex should have a moderate protein restriction of 0.8 g/kg bodyweight per day1. The amount of protein equivalent provided by Lanaflex would need to be subtracted from the total protein requirement, to provide the level of natural protein that can be consumed via the diet.
